Welcome to UNT Dallas University College

University College is the students’ college for their first two years at UNT Dallas.  It ensures that all students build a strong foundation in general education and develop competency in reading, writing, critical thinking, and quantitative analysis skills for their studies in the major disciplines. The University College provides services such as testing, placement, Academic Advising, and Academic Support to students, and oversees the completion of the university core curriculum by all students and assessment of their proficiency in general education. The core curriculum is organized around modes of inquiry, and fulfills  all Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and state requirements. The core program emphasizes effective and innovative teaching and an interdisciplinary approach to student learning.

Academic Advising

Academic Advising is an educational process that facilitates students’ understanding of the meaning and purpose of higher education and fosters their intellectual and personal development toward academic success and life-long learning. Advisors evaluate students’ transcript, help students transfer credits for prior coursework, set class schedule, prepare degree plans, and track progress toward degree completion. At UNT Dallas academic advising is available on a walk-in basis, though students may make appointments by calling 972-780-3645.
